Louisville/Nashville

Labor Day weekend we jetted off to Louisville and Nashville to wrap up 40th birthday celebrations for Tyler and Scott!  As these boys have aged their love for bourbon has grown, so hitting the bourbon trail was the perfect birthday celebration!  We spent two days in Louisville and then drove 2 hrs to Nashville.  You can't pass up Nashville when you are that close!  We are so thankful for our friends that joined this adventure!  Such a fun kid-free weekend with this crew!

We had to visit the Louisville Slugger museum for the kids :)

Angel's Envy was our first distillery tour and it sure was an experience!  We "tasted" bourbon straight out of the barrel with char still in it!  I say "tasted" because I smelled it and it burned so badly that none actually made it in my mouth!  Such a great tour!

The angel wing chocolates were my favorite!
I can definitely say I left Louisville with an appreciation for bourbon cocktails!  Still can't drink bourbon straight but I'm not 40 yet!

The next morning we kicked off a full day of bourbon tours and tastings!  We started at Buffalo Trace and it was full of so much history!  The boys all left with Blantons so it was a success!

Next up cocktails at Woodford Reserve.  The drive to Woodford is exactly what you would imagine driving through Kentucky . . . miles and miles of white fence lined horse farms and racing arenas.

Next was a quick stop at Four Roses for a tasting!  We were on a tight schedule so we didn't get to explore Four Roses but it did look beautiful!  Their tasting was not our favorite though.
We finished up our day at Willet.  We had a great tasting with a super funny tasting guide!  Willet was my favorite!

Cheers to this crew!
Louisville is home to the original 21C hotel so we had to visit.  Their art was definitely more extravagant and unique.

On our way to Nashville we made a quick stop at Churchill Downs . . .
Next stop NASHVILLE!!!  We had the absolute best time in Nashville!  I keep saying that it was probably the most fun I've had in a very long time!  We sang, we danced, we listened to music all day long, we ate good food and laughed so hard!  The talent in Nashville is so incredible!
We gained a few more couples for our Nashville stay!  Love this group so much!

Kid Rocks bar was the BEST!  We danced and sang for hours . . . glistening from all the sweat!
The Tyler's rocking the stage with a little karaoke!  Always fun when parents let loose!

Such a great weekend celebrating Tyler's big 40th!~He deserved all the celebrating!
