Wild Wild West

Jackson and Harper took their first trip out west this past weekend to visit their mimi, papa and uncle Z.  We left for Guymon Thursday evening after the twins bath and 7:30 bottle in hopes they would sleep the entire way.  We were lucky and made it to Guymon without hearing a peep from either one.  Too bad they don't sleep that long or soundly in their crib every night.  Maybe we need to take more 5 hour night road trips to train their little tummies.

I believe the entire town was excited to meet Jackson and Harper.  They were the guests of honor at a baby shower hosted by some of our close Guymon friends.  The twins loved being the center of  attention.  They were awake for the entire party and were perfect angels.  Tyler and I were proud parents!

Jackson and Harper are just a little spoiled!

Looks like they were ready to party!
Little miss showing off her beautiful eyes!
Little man bonding with his daddy
That was pretty brave to take Jackson's paci.  He was eyeing it the entire time.

Officially exhausted after a fun night out!

Thank you for such a wonderful shower.  We are so glad Jackson and Harper were able to meet so many of our Guymon friends.

We have now mastered road trips.  As we were driving back we stopped half way to feed the babies and let out the dogs.  As we pulled into the gas station another younger couple pulled in with one dog and a baby.  We had double the dogs and babies and were still able to pull out of the gas station before they finished up.  Winning in our book!

First Road Trip

Tyler and I loaded up the kiddos and headed to Plano two weekends ago to see Nanna and Grandpa.  You would have thought we packed for a month long trip but I wanted to be prepared for any situation.  I guess that is the new mom in me.  Jackson and Harper slept the entire way, woohoo!

While we were in Plano my parents had a little open house for friends and family to meet the newest additions.  I wish I would have snapped more pictures but I was too busy chatting.  It was so great to see so many old friends, some we hadn't seen since our wedding!
One of our only family pictures.

Jackson and Harper loved meeting the Verver family

I would definitely say our first road trip was a success.  Looks like our little ones will be quite the travelers.  Good thing because we already have a few trips planned for later this year :)  Thanks Nanna and Grandpa for such a great weekend and for letting these tired parents have two nights of sleep!!!

Scrub-a-dub-dub

Bath time is part of our nightly routine with the twins.  Not only do we want the twins going to bed smelling so fresh and so clean but I'm hoping they start associating the bath with bedtime.  Jackson and Harper are really starting to enjoy their nightly baths.
Sister is relaxing after her head massage!
Relaxing so much she started snoozing!
We moved the warm wash cloth off brother's belly to cover his privates and he wasn't happy about it!
I'm sure over the next couple of months/years we will have plenty of bath pictures to post.  I have been told that bath time gets easier and more pleasant as the months go by.  I can't wait to bust out all the bath toys.  Soon enough we will be splish splashing!

Just Lounging

Our boppy loungers just arrived and the twins are loving them!  We have heard amazing reviews on the boppy loungers from numerous families with twins.  We have only had them one day and so far they are a hit.  So much better than the regular boppys.

Don't Jackson and Harper look so comfy. . .  I wish they made these for adults!

We are also testing out the wubbanubs.

Our hearts are filled with lots of love this year!

Routine

I never imagined my life being so schedule orientated but with twins it seems necessary. After the first two weeks we started implementing a fairly structured routine for the twins. They basically eat everyday at 9:00 am, 12:00 pm, 3:00 pm, 6:00 pm and 9:00 pm and then in the middle of the night around 2:30-3ish and then again around 6:00. Between each feeding I'm trying my best to keep them awake for at least 30 minutes however they are so sleepy. They usually make up for it at some point during the day and stay awake for a few hours at once. Jackson set the record by staying awake for 4 hours straight last Friday night! We start our nighttime routine at 8:30 with bath time followed by a book and then their 9:00 feeding.

I’m hoping the routine leads to sleeping through the night in the near future or at least within the next month or two.  That would make this mama extremely HAPPY!  The schedule also allows us to make plans around their feeding times.  It’s not so simple to whip out two bottles in public to feed Jackson and Harper and when you are alone it’s impossible. So basically don’t plan on seeing the Miller’s out in public at 9, 12, 3, 6 or 9.
On another note, the twins officially have spots at daycare.  Of course the spots are available this Friday  which means we “get” to pay for daycare for a month when I’m at home.  Oh well, we will take it!!!  We are bringing the twins to meet their teacher next week.   I’m sure their teacher will fall in love with them immediately, I mean who wouldn’t!

Happy One Month!

I can't believe we are already celebrating Jackson and Harper's one month birthday!  It's amazing how quickly this first month has flown by.  Tyler and I are head over heels in LOVE with these two little munchkins.  Jackson and Harper are growing and changing on a daily basis.  We are enjoying every moment because we know this baby phase will be over before we know it.  We have to remind ourselves of this during the middle of the night feedings when we are completely exhausted!

Jackson and Harper are absolute angels and I don't foresee that changing!  They let us know if they are hungry, tired or have a dirty diaper but other than that they are so content and happy!  Harper is already becoming a daddy's girl and Jackson is becoming a mommy's boy.  Its amazing how quickly that begins.  Tyler unofficially weighed them last week and Harper was around 7 lbs and Jackson right at 6 lbs.

I was so fortunate to have Tyler home from work the first two weeks.  We were all so sad to see daddy go back to work!  Thankfully our amazing family has made arrangements to help me a few days a week.  Its ALWAYS nice to have a few extra hands helping with the twins.  They are still so little and need some extra TLC!  Plus they LOVE their QT with their grandparents and auntie Stephanie and Amanda.  We appreciate the help more than you can imagine.

These two LOVE their pacis!

Play time!

Tummy time turned into nap time.
Me and my little man!
Harper and Uncle Z!
Jackson with his great grandpa Jack!  The twins love spending time with you!

We love you Jackson and Harper and we look forward to the months ahead!  You two have brought so much joy and happiness to our lives!
