Happy 4th of July

Another successful and super fun 4th of July in the books spent celebrating America's birthday with great friends and family!  Seriously one of my favorite holidays and it keeps getting more and more fun every year!

We got to a rocky start Thursday night when a storm blew through dumping more than 5 inches of rain, talk about serious flooding!!!  That evening was our 3rd annual Veneterra block party which I had been looking forward to for weeks.  Obviously our plans were altered due to the weather but we still had a fun night celebrating with neighbors until we all about got washed away.  I snapped a few pictures before the storm rolled in.

J&H were fascinated watching the rain come in . . .

We were all a little sad when we had to call it an early night bc of the flooding.  No baths needed that night since we got a soaking outside!
Friday night we decided to try out the block party again.  Smaller scale this year since it was so last minute but still super fun.
These three wanted a front row seat to the firework show!

The dads put on a fabulous firework show!  Don't let the ear covering fool you, these two LOVED the fireworks!

After a late and fun night shooting fireworks we got up early to head to the parade!  We are 100% festive so we couldn't miss it.

Lots of waving, flag waving, high fives and clapping!
After the parade we headed to Oak Tree for swimming and fun!  J&H had fun playing all the pool games and winning Oak Tree bucks for prizes.  There wasn't an age group for J in the kayak races but he wasn't going to let that stop him!
He impressed everyone with his kayaking skills!

After pool time we all headed home for a much needed nap before the evening festivities.  I can't remember the last time we ALL took a nap.  We need to do it more often because it was fabulous.  After naps we headed to a super fun BBQ and back to Oak Tree for fireworks.

And after a long fun day we headed home.  Fireworks were still going off in our neighborhood so we took a seat on the driveway to enjoy a few quiet family moments under the stars and fireworks.  It was past the kids bedtime by hours but I couldn't pass up this moment.   PERFECT end to a perfect 4th of July weekend.

God bless the USA!
